# Printwright Personal Print License — v3
**This is a template license, not legal advice.** Printwright provides this
text as a standard grant between a designer and a buyer; neither Printwright
nor the designer has tailored it to your situation, and you should consult a
lawyer for anything that matters more than a shelf bracket.
## 1. Parties and subject
This license is granted by the **designer** (identified by the stable
`designer` id in the license certificate — an identity, never a wallet) to the
**licensee** (the holder of the license certificate identified by `cert_id`),
for the 3D model whose file bundle hash is recorded as `model_hash` in that
certificate.
## 2. Grant
The designer grants the licensee a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable
license to:
- download and keep the model's file bundle;
- print the model, and modified copies of it, on their own or third-party
printers, in unlimited quantity, **for personal, non-commercial use**;
- make personal-use modifications of the files.
## 3. Not granted
The licensee may not:
- sell, rent, or otherwise commercially exploit printed copies of the model;
- redistribute, resell, sublicense, or publicly share the digital files,
modified or not;
- present the model or a derivative as their own original design.
A separate Commercial Per-Unit license covers selling printed copies.
## 4. Designer's warranty
The designer warrants that they hold the rights needed to grant this license
and that the model is their own work or work they are licensed to sell. The
designer — not Printwright — is responsible for this warranty, and accepted it
when publishing the model.
## 5. No DRM — the honesty clause
The files carry no copy protection, watermarking, or usage tracking, and none
will be added later. This license works on honesty: the price of a license is
set low enough to pay. If you share the files anyway, no mechanism stops you —
you are simply breaking a promise this document records you made.
## 6. The certificate
Each purchase anchors a certificate to the Hedera Consensus Service as an
**opaque commitment** — a salted hash of the certificate, and nothing else.
The personal certificate records the model hash, license type, payment
transaction, and a hash of this exact text (`terms_hash`), but no sequential
sale or unit number. The certificate is held off-chain and revealed by you:
anyone you show it to can recompute the hash and verify it against the public
mirror node without trusting Printwright. Because only the commitment is
public, no buyer, designer wallet, or per-model sales count is broadcast. The
certificate is the durable proof of this grant; keep your `cert_id`.
## 7. Termination
This license ends automatically if the licensee breaches section 3 and does
not cure the breach within 14 days of notice. Printed personal copies made
before termination may be kept.
## 8. Liability
The model is provided **as printed-tested by the designer, but otherwise
as-is**. To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither the designer nor
Printwright is liable for damages arising from printing or using the model.
Total liability is capped at the price paid for this license.
## 9. Governing law

marketplace's terms-of-service page at the time of purchase, unless designer
and licensee agree otherwise in writing.

# Printwright Commercial Per-Unit Print License — v3
**This is a template license, not legal advice.** Printwright provides this
text as a standard grant between a designer and a buyer; neither Printwright
nor the designer has tailored it to your situation, and you should consult a
lawyer before building a business on it.
## 1. Parties and subject
This license is granted by the **designer** (identified by the stable
`designer` id in the license certificate — an identity, never a wallet) to the
**licensee** (the holder of the license certificate identified by `cert_id`),
for the 3D model whose file bundle hash is recorded as `model_hash` in that
certificate.
## 2. Grant — one unit
The designer grants the licensee a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable
license to:
- download and keep the model's file bundle;
- print and **sell one (1) physical copy** of the model — the unit whose
serial number is recorded as `unit_serial` in the certificate;
- print personal-use copies under the same terms as the Personal license.
Each additional unit offered for sale requires its own per-unit license. This
is the royalty: designers earn per unit sold, at machine-payable prices, and
each unit's legitimacy is independently checkable from its certificate.
## 3. Not granted
The licensee may not:
- sell more physical copies than they hold unit licenses for;
- redistribute, resell, sublicense, or publicly share the digital files,
modified or not;
- present the model or a derivative as their own original design;
- imply the designer endorses the licensee's products.
## 4. Designer's warranty
The designer warrants that they hold the rights needed to grant this license
and that the model is their own work or work they are licensed to sell, and
that the model was print-tested as described on its listing. The designer —
not Printwright — is responsible for this warranty, and accepted it when
publishing the model.
## 5. No DRM — the honesty clause

will be added later. Per-unit honesty is the design: royalties are priced to
be cheaper to pay than to evade, and buyers of your prints can ask to see your
unit certificates and verify each one independently. Selling unlicensed copies
is not prevented — each licensed unit is simply provable from its own
certificate.
## 6. The certificate
Each unit license anchors a certificate to the Hedera Consensus Service as an
**opaque commitment** — a salted hash of the certificate. The certificate
itself (model hash, license type, unit serial, payment transaction, and a hash
of this exact text, `terms_hash`) is held off-chain and revealed by the holder.
"Unit N of model X, licensed at time T under these terms" is provable to anyone
you show the certificate to, who recomputes the hash and checks it against the
mirror node without trusting Printwright. Because only the commitment is
public, your sales volume is never broadcast. The certificate is the durable
proof of this grant.
## 7. Termination
This license ends automatically if the licensee breaches section 3 and does
not cure the breach within 14 days of notice. Units sold under valid
certificates before termination remain licensed.
## 8. Liability
The model is provided **as print-tested by the designer, but otherwise
as-is**. To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither the designer nor
Printwright is liable for damages arising from printing, using, or selling
copies of the model. Total liability is capped at ten times the price paid
for this license.
## 9. Governing law
